Why do you need a lifestyle coach?

Updated: Aug 14, 2019

Many people are looking to improve their mental and physical wellbeing.

Research shows that having a buddy system, both for support and to make you accountable for your actions can be a critical success factor in making a successful lifestyle change. It also needs to be easy, fun, purposeful and achievable! That is where the lifestyle coach comes into play. Whether you need to change your lifestyle for health reasons, lack the motivation, the know how or want to have more energy and feel better about yourself, this is an investment that you won’t regret!

Setting realistic goals

In our professional lives we seem to be able to set goals and achieve our targets but when it comes to our personal lives it’s a different story. When we hit a snag at work, we consult our colleagues, but when we have problems in our personal lives, for some reason it either seems too complicated or it gets a lower priority. What if you treated yourself like you attack your work? You would end up being more productive and you would have more energy for your personal/family life as well. It all starts by making small changes and setting SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely)

Staying focused on goals

Your personal coach will help you to keep your eye on the prize - through the easy times and also through the rough spots! Setbacks are to be expected, and that’s when some people will just give up and that’s when a personal lifestyle coach can be very beneficial – to focus you on lessons learned and help you push through them to get back on track.

Changing lifestyle gradually and in a safe and healthy way

Some of you might be tempted to change your lifestyle overnight, but just like your weight, habits did not appear overnight you have to take a gradual approach. There are some pretty drastic programs out there that work for a little while, but as soon as you get off them, the problems come rushing back and all the hard work will have been in vain. Extreme changes are not healthy either! I strongly believe, and there is research to suggest that you are more likely to sustain your healthy lifestyle if it is made gradually. I’m living proof.

Using a “buddy” or motivator

It is well known that if you do an activity with someone else you are more likely to enjoy it and more likely to keep it up. This is what a lifestyle coach like me is there for – to be your buddy and motivator, that voice in the back of your head that pushes you to carry on and succeed. Lebeau Concept offers a variety of programs – from private coaching to small groups and workplace coaching.

Achieving goals

An ancient Chinese proverb says that "the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now." You too can make the changes necessary to improve your health, wellness and mindfulness. It is totally worth it and you deserve it!

Background

Before picture

We are all told, “live your life to the fullest” (easier said than done) and I plan to do just that.

My name is Anne Lebeau and I'm a middle-aged woman living with an autoimmune disease. I have also struggled with my weight most of my life, but I’ve been pretty stable for the last 15 years. I tried every diet out there. 16 years ago, I was very overweight, and I knew I had to do something about it. I was in physiotherapy at the time for a back problem (something I had since childhood). I started doing the exercises that were prescribed for me daily and walking as well. Slowly but surely, I started shedding the pounds and making heathier food choices. I eventually lost 75 pounds, and have remained within 25 pounds of my goal weight ever since, despite 2 international moves, changing jobs several time and being diagnosed with a rare disease.

I am passionate about helping people. I'm a special education teacher by training, but throughout my career I have had many roles, including psycho-social worker.

I have always liked cooking, trying new foods and being active, but I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease 3 years ago. Traditional medicine wasn't working well for me and I was getting worse, to the point where I was nearly incapacitated about a year and half ago. I wanted to explore the possibilities of turning my life around with a combination of food and lifestyle changes in addition to traditional medical treatments.

I consulted with a nutritionist to help me choose the right diet/lifestyle to treat my disease. The nutritionist gave me broad guidelines and studies to read. I now follow a modified anti-inflammatory diet/lifestyle and I'm able to lead my life to the fullest.

I exercise and meditate regularly, I've changed how and what I eat to a more plant-based diet, which has helped me get back to my goal weight and more importantly lose all the bloating caused by inflammation and regain the energy I lost due to my disease.

I have a background in education, mindfulness and well-being.  As a lifestyle coach I wish to help others (contact me on the 'Contact' page if you're interested in a personalized program).

Lebeau Concept is my way of sharing my passions, my experiences, my inspirations and what I have learned to help deal with this crazy world.

I am a disciplined and driven person and I can help you on your own journey to improve your physical and emotional life in a simple fun way through:

  • Thoughts on food (not only plant-based), recipes, inspirational quotes, exercises and tips for wellness and mindfulness

  • Places to shop, books to read, things to do, stuff to buy

  • External resources (videos, articles, etc. on all of the above)
